Job Overview

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties maybe assigned.

Patrol the City of Baldwin to detect and deter criminal activity and traffic violations.

Respond to calls relayed by Communications Officers including acts of family

violence, assaults, burglaries, traffic accidents, lost or missing persons, motoristassists, public service duties and others.

Conduct preliminary investigations into traffic accidents and other incidents whichmay include interviewing victims, complainants, suspects and witnesses; gathering

information, collecting evidence and securing crime scenes.

Logging and securing evidence to prevent theft, loss, or contamination.

Apprehend, arrest, and process offenders.

Transport offenders to the appropriate Law Enforcement facility.

Provide assistance and backup support to other officers as necessary.

Provide first aid and CPR when necessary.

Provide traffic direction as needed for events such as parades, funerals, sporting events,

and school crossings.

Testify as a credible witness in judicial proceedings.

Complete incident and accident reports.

Inspect and maintain assigned patrol car, uniform, and equipment.

Visit open businesses to establish rapport with employees and owners.

Attend training as required.

Perform numerous other activities in support of the community policing philosophy.
